Corporate Counsel, Privacy and Compliance

Description

As a Corporate Counsel, Privacy and Compliance you will report to the General Counsel and be instrumental in ensuring our business operations adhere to stringent privacy, cybersecurity, anti-bribery and anti-fraud, and other legal standards and that our procurement processes run smoothly. Your expertise in data solutions, privacy regulations, cybersecurity oversight, and procurement program management will be essential in navigating complex legal and compliance challenges.

A Day in the Life 

  • Privacy Program Management:
    •  Develop and implement comprehensive privacy programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with global privacy regulations, including CPRA and GDPR.
    •  Guide data protection, data processing, and compliance with privacy regulations for digital advertising and data broker business.
    • Work with functional areas within the business to develop, oversee and audit policies, business processes and technical controls for compliant use of data by the business and its customers.
  • Data Privacy Compliance:
    •  Monitor and assess the company’s compliance with global data privacy regulations, ensuring data protection practices are consistently followed.
    •  Conduct privacy impact assessments and risk assessments related to data processing activities.
  • Contract Management:
    •  Lead commercial contracting efforts, including the negotiation, drafting, and review of procurement agreements and contracts.
    •  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement processes and ensure efficiency.
  • Vendor Management:
    •  Evaluate and manage vendor relationships, ensuring vendors, such as advertising exchanges and data providers, comply with privacy and security requirements.
    • Establish and oversee vendor qualification, oversight and audit program.
    •  Review and negotiate vendor agreements, including data protection clauses.
  • Training and Education:
    •  Provide privacy training and education to internal teams, ensuring awareness of data privacy best practices.
    •  Stay updated on evolving privacy regulations and educate the organization accordingly.
  • Legal Advisory:
    •  Offer legal counsel and guidance on privacy matters, commercial contracting issues, and contract negotiations.
    •  Assist in managing legal disputes related to procurement agreements.

What You Bring to the Role

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the state bar.
  • 7+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on privacy law, data and digital advertising, and commercial contracts.
  • Deep knowledge of privacy regulations, including CPRA and GDPR, and their impact on data products and data processing.
  • Proven track record of negotiating and managing commercial agreements.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic legal environment.
